How to set an Ip address. 1 Year, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
I am trying to set an OID that is used to hold an IP address.

First I do a get on this oid and the value is displayed as
192.168.5.103 in the Unbrowse GUI.

Next I go to set mode then try typing a new address the same way for example ... 192.168.5.44

When the set is executed I get an error message that the data type doesn't match the one the agent expects.

The oid access is listed as read-write.
The type is listed as IpAddr(OctetString).

Is there a certain way to type this into the GUI to make it work?

Just as a note, I have the write community set to private and can successfully modify other oids such as integers.

Does the MIB object have a SYNTAX of IpAddress ? The GETS are implemented slightly different from SET. In Unbrowse, GETs are much more flexible and try to do the right thing.

Can you try entering the IP in hex ? C0A8052C or "Hex:C0A8052C". It is quite annoying to do that, but will help us find the source of the problem.

Thanks,
