This page contains regular releases of our beta builds to customers and other invited participants. Unsniff 2.0 is our next major release scheduled for August 2008. Please do not publicly review or share the beta builds.

Important Install Notes

To install a beta, you must :
  1. Uninstall existing installation via Add/Remove Programs
  2. Remove the old config settings in %APPDATA%\Unleash Networks\Unsniff\Cfg (Remove the Cfg folder, or the entire Unsniff folder). To open the %APPDATA% folder, select Start - Run - Enter "%APPDATA%" into the box
  3. Install the new version

To use the Quick Decode Tool :
  • Click on Tools - Quick Decode Tool
  • Enter Hex dump into the box (eg via Copy Paste)
  • Press decode
  • Accepts a variety of hex output formats (tcpdump,wireshark)
  • You can paste any number of packets separated by a blank line

Build 1289, Feb 8 2008
  • Full support for 3GPP2 A10 / A11 messages
  • Shows GRE tunnel in each A11 message
  • Support for QoS extensions to all 3GPP2 A11 messages
  • Enhancements to protocol tree UI item (remembers expanded state for each item)

  • Able to extract RTP calls spanning GRE segments in A10 connections

Follow these instructions to install Unsniff.

Now the extensions are picked up automatically and shown on the list.
Also some GUI enhancements.
Download all three files.

  1. Download latest Unsniff build from here.
  2. Download two plugin DLLs from here (UQMon.dll) and here (XGraph10u.dll)
  3. Uninstall old Unsniff via Add/Remove Programs
  4. Install new Unsniff (downloaded in step 1)
  5. Copy the two plugin DLLs to the ProgramFiles/UnleashNetworks/Unsniff/Bin directory
  6. Register Plugin: CD to the ProgramFiles/UnleashNetoworks/Unsniff/Bin directory and type regsvr32 UQMON.dll
  7. Add Sheet: Launch Unsniff, then go to Plugins-Sheets menu.
    Click on the new icon, enter UnsniffPlugs.QoSMonitor for the prog id and enter VoIP QOS for the sheet title
  8. Thats it , now you are done.

    To change the ports used (15005 and 15001) go to Tools-Customize-Advanced and modify the last two items.
