We have installed Unsniff on several 2008 servers to measure our network traffic between them.
It's has worked great on all of them except one.

On this system if failed after I did the first capture and saved the file.
When I try to restart it I get an error with:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: usnfctr.exe
Application Version: 1.8.0.1538
Application Timestamp: 52529dc1

Additional Information 3: fd00
Additional Information 4: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160

Plus, we have the following in the event viewer:

Faulting application usnfctr.exe, version 1.8.0.1538, time stamp 0x52529dc1, faulting module uncrypt.dll, version 1.8.0.1342, time stamp 0x52529e43, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000dabf6, process id 0x5b8, application start time 0x01cef1f42760b34b.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled unsniff.
Uninstalled/rebooted/ and reinstalled unsniff.
Uninstalled, searched and removed everything I could find in the registry related to unsniff and then reinstalled.
Renamed the uncrypt.dll and tried starting unsniff, this caused an error with TCPANA.dll.

Not sure what to try next, please help!

Thanks,
Andy

This should fix your problem

1. Stop Unsniff

2. Delete the following directory
CD %APPDATA%\Unleash Networks\Cfg directory

3. Restart Unsniff

You dont have to reinstall. (To open the %APPDATA% folder, use Windows Start > Type in %APPDATA% into the box)

It looks like a case of one of the config files getting corrupted due to the earlier crash.

Let me know if that works.

We should have an update for you on the Auto Stop condition tomorrow. Cheers !!
